Canadian Casinos in the News
About Century Casinos
Century Casinos was formed in 1992 by several executives of Casinos Austria. One of its first forays into live casinos came in 1994, when its cruise ship casino business began.
The company moved its headquarters from Denver to Colorado Springs in 1996, where it is still based. In 2006 it made a double move, simultaneously opening the Century Casino and Hotel in Central City, Colorado and in Edmonton, Alberta. In 2010 it bought the Silver Dollar Casino in Calgary. Its presence in Alberta grew again in 2019 when the Century Mile Racetrack and Casino in Edmonton was opened.
Slots machines
You will find more than 750 slots across the 35,000 square feet of the casino floor at Century Casino, Edmonton. Slots have been collected from all the major producers. Classic reel slots sit alongside the latest branded movie/TV tie-in games. Stakes start at one cent per line on the casino floor. For bigger bets, there is a separate high-limit gaming area. Both in-house and linked wide-area progressive slot jackpots can be won — including some prizes that reach life-changing levels. Games such as Buffalo Gold and Thunder Cash are highlighted, though these are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of your choices.
In addition to the slots, you will find a range of video poker machines. These offer multiple game variations with the famously low house edge for options like Jacks or Better. VLTs are available, with a range of class II games including adapted versions of popular slot games.
Table games
The table games section at the casino covers the popular options. There are 24 tables of live-action gaming, with table minimums starting at $5.00. Side bets are available, including the ‘Lucky Lucky’ blackjack side bet.
Here are the game options:
You can also head into the high limit room to play table games. High rollers can book a private salon to enjoy some exclusive gaming action as well.

You can place classic bets such as win, place, and shows, or try your luck at winning those exotic bets such as exactas, trifectas, and superfectas.

Winner’s Zone and Winner’s Edge loyalty programs
Players can take part in two different loyalty schemes at the Century Casino. First up, there is the Winner’s Zone loyalty scheme, which is the in-house scheme. By signing up (you can do so at Guest Services, online, or using a kiosk) you get the opportunity to enter prize draws. Prizes include cash, trips, vehicles, and more, as well as exclusive food and drink promotions.
You can also sign up to the Winner’s Edge program. This is an Alberta-wide loyalty program that most of the casinos in the province are part of. As you play on any slots or electronic table games, you will earn points. One point is accrued for every $1.00-$5.00 wagered (the points are different based on which game you are playing). You will be able to redeem those points for bonus plays or extra entries into members-only contests. You can also receive a 10% discount on select menu items. The advantage of this scheme is that you can claim and redeem your points at any participating casino in Alberta.
Promotions at the Century Casino are varied. Examples include NFL Sundays at the Yuk Yuk’s venue, where you can receive a discount on chicken wings and a beer, as well as a chance to win a free NFL jersey. Players at each of the Century Casinos can win a cash prize of $1,000, with anyone gambling able to enter. The five lucky winners can then go into a draw to see which of the five will win an eye-catching $25,000.
