The Century Casino in St. Albert is one of a growing number of casinos under the ‘Century’ brand. As well as its Alberta casinos, Century has properties in Colorado. This smaller casino used to be called the Apex St. Albert. After being acquired in 2016, it was renamed. Other casinos in this group include the Century Downs racetrack, Century Casino Edmonton, and the Century Mile Racetrack. The St. Albert casino is located at 24 Boudreau Road, St. Albert, AB.
There are more than 250 slots to enjoy at this venue. They are joined by both video lottery terminals (VLTs) and e-tables — allowing players to enjoy casino table games electronically. There are also live table games. The options include classic games such as blackjack, roulette and baccarat, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. Off-track betting is also available at this casino. You can enjoy the best of both North American racing, and selected races from around the world.
On this page, you will find all the information you need ahead of a trip to the Century Casino St. Albert. First below there is a brief history of this casino, followed by a look at all the gaming options available. Next, the two loyalty schemes are detailed. History of the Century Casino St. Albert
The St. Albert’s Apex Casino first opened its doors in 1994. This casino, located just 10 kilometres from St. Albert city centre, underwent an extensive renovation in 2010. The biggest change to the venue came in 2016 with the Century takeover. Century, based in Colorado Springs, paid $15.9 million for the business, as well as an additional $12 million for the real estate in and around the casino.
This takeover saw the Apex name-dropped and the casino came into line with the other casinos in the group, adopting the Century name.
Slots machines at Century Casino St. Albert
Slot players will enjoy the range of games at this casino, with 266 different slot machines. While this is a smaller selection than you will find at the big casinos in Calgary and Edmonton, the range of gaming options is wide. Most titles start at $0.01 per line denomination. Progressive jackpots give you a chance of hitting a big win for those small bets.
Games such as Lightning Cash offer four levels of progressive jackpots with the Grand Jackpot (which is linked across both the St. Albert casino and others in Alberta) offering a minimum payout of $75,000 and it goes much higher. Other popular slots on the gaming floor include Hot Stuff Wicked Wheel, American Original, Jungle Wild, and Quick Hit Ultra Pays.
Alongside the slots are a series of 12 video lottery terminals (VLTs). These machines offer a choice of class II games. Many of these are classic slots from IGT, Aristocrat and others. These Alberta-wide games add multiple gaming options from a single screen.
Table games at Century Casino St. Albert
With 11 gaming tables, only the most popular table game formats are available at this casino. They do include all the classics, including:
Note that minimum stakes are higher than at some Alberta casinos. For example, blackjack has a $10 minimum stake. Optional side bets are available, which can give you a windfall prize for a big poker hand or multiple sevens in blackjack.
Electronic table games boost the options, with smaller stakes available in e-gaming format. You can enjoy electronic versions of baccarat, three card poker, blackjack, and roulette. These games take place without the dealer, making them quicker than the dealt versions.
Off-track betting at Century Casino St. Albert
Unlike the Century Casino at the Century Downs and Century Mile, there is no live horse racing at this casino. What you can enjoy is off-track betting. The best races from Canada, the USA, and big fixtures from around the world are screened via Simulcast. There are 10 HD TVs to follow the action.
Tote machines let you enter the pari-mutuel pools for these races.
Horse racing fans can watch the best races from around the world with simulcast coverage across 10 mounted HD TVs. The racing is shown seven days a week, with ample seating to enjoy the action from the best vantage points and tote machines nearby, making placing bets easy. All the classic bets including win, place, show, exactas, trifectas, daily doubles, and more can be placed at the Century Casino St. Albert. Check out the racing calendar on the casino’s website to see where the next racing action is taking place.
Loyalty schemes at St. Albert’s Century Casino
There are two loyalty schemes available to players at the Century Casino St. Albert.
Winner’s Zone
The first is the Winner’s Zone. This scheme is used across all the Century Casinos. With this program, players get entry into exclusive prize draws. Prizes range from instant cash, vacations and trips, vehicles, and electronics. You can also take part in exclusive food and beverage promotions.
A standing promotion shared between the Century Casino is a big prize draw. This gives $25,000 to the lucky winner. Each of the five Century casinos in Alberta will see one lucky winner walk away with $1,000 (entries are awarded by simply signing into the Winner’s Zone scheme). Then a second draw takes place, with one of the five winners awarded a further $25,000.
Winner’s Edge
The second loyalty scheme is Winner’s Edge. This is an Alberta-wide scheme set up in conjunction with most of the other casinos in the province.
You join at guest services or using the kiosk (available at any AB casino) and will earn points every time you play at a slot or at an electronic gaming machine. You can then redeem the points you earn for free play at the casino (or any other casino in Alberta). You can also enter a series of free contests with impressive prizes. On signing up to the scheme you receive an instant point boost, which could be up to an incredible 500,000 points. Members of Winner’s Edge get a 10% discount on select items on the food and drinks menu.
