The Casino at Copper Coulee Casino

The Copper Coulee Casino is located just off the Trans-Canada Highway, in the Medicine Hat Lodge resort, making it fairly easy to access from both the city and the highway.

Inside the casino, players will have around 30,000 square feet of gaming space to roam around, looking for their favourite slot games, VLTs, and other table games. The majority of games are slots, but the selection of VLTs and live-action table games shouldn’t be overlooked since all the top games like blackjack, roulette, and poker are there, including Ultimate Texas Hold’em and $5 Blackjack.

The most popular titles are province-wide progressive jackpot slots, such as Diamond Millions, and plenty of other in-house progressive slot jackpot games, poker, and keno games whose payouts can be worth thousands, if not millions.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a dedicated poker room, but that is no reason for concern. Poker enthusiasts can still square off with the dealers in three-card poker games and Ultimate Texas Hold’em games.

On the other hand, Copper Coulee Casino has diversified its gaming offer by allowing betting on simulcast horse racing in its Elements Lounge. There, players can enjoy a similar experience to being at the racetrack.

Copper Coulee Casino in Medicine Hat does not offer any in-house rewards programs and promotions for gamblers. However, the casino is a part of Alberta’s province-wide rewards program called Winner’s Edge, which provides discounts at restaurants, bonus play casino bonuses, and more.

Slot machines

The diverse offer of slot machines is Copper Coulee Casino’s bread and butter. There are 337 slots covering many themes, offering exciting bonus features and massive payouts, each equipped with an HD screen and a comfortable chair. The most popular titles include three and five-reel slots such as Cleopatra, Blazing 7s, Aladdin, and many others from leading software providers, such as WMS, Aristocrat, and IGT.

Players particularly enjoy progressive jackpot slots, and Copper Coulee Casino has not failed to deliver a considerable choice of those as well. For example, local progressive jackpot slots such as Aristocrat’s Spin It Grand, IGT’s Gold and Dragon 2, and WMS’ Wild Frontier are most frequently played and have so far paid tens of thousands of dollars to lucky winners. On the other hand, province-wide progressive jackpot slots, like Diamond Millions, Fortune’s Heat and Jackpot Junction, offer prizes in excess of $1 million.

The slot machine games found in Copper Coulee Casino are multiple denomination games, ranging from penny slots to those where each pull of the lever can cost several dollars.

What’s more, Copper Coulee Casino regularly hosts slot tournaments, such as Senior’s Slot Tournaments and a Father’s Day Tournament, where players can earn large cash prizes and enjoy free coffee and cookies while playing.

In addition to the slot machines, players can try the 21 video lottery terminals found on the casino floor and enjoy the best keno and bingo action available.

Table games

Although slots and VLTs are the most numerous games in Copper Coulee Casino, the more traditional players out there can still try their luck and skills at about ten table games. You can find all the classics, such as blackjack, roulette, and poker games, as well as more modern versions of these games, including blackjack tables with the Lucky Lucky side bet.

Speaking of blackjack games, Copper Coulee Casino has installed $5 tables across the floor, while the roulette games have various betting limits, depending on the game. Regrettably, there aren’t any baccarat or craps tables.

The complete table games offered include the following types of games:

  • Blackjack (Lucky Lucky side bet)
  • Roulette
  • Ultimate Texas Hold’em Poker

Off-track betting on horse racing

Visitors who have a knack for wagering on horse racing have an extra reason to visit Copper Coulee Casino and its Elements Lounge. Namely, within the lounge, players can engage in off-track betting on horse races transmitted via satellite. All of their bets are sent directly to the racetrack and included in the on-track betting pool, which means that winners are paid the same amounts as on-track bettors.

Dining

Copper Coulee Casino has one dining option to offer, but it should be more than enough to cater to all players’ needs. Namely, Elements is a lounge, bar, and restaurant located in the casino and spans two distinct areas: one is dedicated to live music shows, dining, and watching top professional and collegiate sporting events, while the other is dedicated to off-track betting on horse races, pool games, darts, and slot games.

As for the menu, visitors can taste various delicacies, such as sticky dry ribs, grilled chicken focaccia, and many other appetizers and main course dishes prepared with fresh ingredients and utmost care.

To help you chow down on these savoury meals, Elements has prepared a wide selection of cocktails and beers. The lounge’s working hours are 10 am to 12 am (kitchen hours 11 am to 11 pm) from Sunday to Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday, the hours of operation are from 10 am to 2 am (kitchen hours 10 am to 1 am).

Copper Coulee Casino history

Copper Coulee Casino was formerly known as Casino by Vanshaw, one of the first casinos in Alberta, which opened over 30 years ago. It was rumoured that a disagreement between the management of Casino by Vanshaw and Medicine Hat Lodge over the renting of the Elements Lounge broke the camel’s back and led to the purchase of the casino by Canalta Hotels, Stagewest Hospitality, and Starks companies in 2018.

After a short renovation, the managing companies announced the name change and the new look. They also announced the possible relocation of the casino to the Box Springs area in six years. Still, the companies are dedicated to making the best of the casino’s time in Medicine Hat Lodge. They are hoping to position Copper Coulee as the best gaming destination in the region.
