The casino is in a perfect location for citizens of Vancouver and tourists alike. It was first opened in 2001, but it didn’t carry the name of the Hard Rock brand. It was first called the Coquitlam Casino and soon changed its name to Boulevard Casino.

It was during the Boulevard Casino years that the casino grounds saw their biggest expansion and put the location on the map. The casino was completely renovated in 2006, with the 105-million-dollar renovation including the expansion of the casino floor, the construction of the new Show Theatre and a six-level parkade that could accommodate 1,600 vehicles.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida, which owns Hard Rock Cafe Inc., signed an agreement to rebrand the casino as Hard Rock Casino Vancouver on Dec. 20, 2013. With 80,000 square feet of total gambling space, Hard Rock Casino Vancouver is the largest land-based casino in the province of British Columbia.
