Live shows at Caesars Hotel and Casino in Windsor, Ontario, are back.
And while guests are undoubtedly thrilled to revisit favourite casino venues, the return of concerts is optimistic for musicians too.
“It’s a glimmer of hope for all musicians … that maybe we’re coming out of this,” Windsor musician South River Slim told the CBC.
Slim said that since the pandemic started, it’s been a difficult time for musicians.
“We can only hope and pray that it just keeps coming back and things stay on course.”
Slim will perform on Dec 4 at the Cosmos Lounge, a smaller venue at Caesars featuring local acts.
Cosmos Lounge and Colosseum reopen
Those who want to experience the local, live music scene should check out Cosmos Lounge’s November schedule. Local artists like Big Louie and The Band, Christian Vegh Band and United Snake – are already there.
December welcomes Jen Knight Band (Dec 18), Carol Kerr Band (Dec 19), J# Major (Dec 26).
VJ Mele & The Soul Delegation will perform on New Year’s Eve.
The larger Colosseum venue opens its doors with REO Speedwagon and a trip down memory lane on Dec 11. Other acts, such as Slash and the Tenors, are on next year’s calendar.
Caesars says folks should stay tuned for announcements of upcoming shows.
Quebec gets back to business
While Ontario lifted capacity limits on Oct 25, Quebec is following their lead.
The French province slowly lifted COVID-19 health restrictions at restaurants, bars, pubs, taverns, and casinos. Customers will have to show proof of vaccination at the entrance and wear masks when moving around indoors. Restaurants will also keep a customer register.
However, capacity limits lifted as of Nov 1, and there’s no longer extra distance between tables. But, in cases with no dividers between tables, social distancing will remain at two metres. However, a distancing requirement of one metre will be in force for tables with no separation.
Dining establishments can stay open during regular open hours (until 2 am), and alcohol sales stop at 1 am.
Singing and karaoke are still banned.
Later, Caesars added online sports betting to its wagering options for Ontarians.
