Canadian Premier League has unveiled an expansive, multiyear agreement with online gaming and sports betting brand, ComeOn! The deal makes ComeOn! the CPL’s official sports betting and online casino partner ahead of the 2021 soccer season.
The partnership, announced last week, will see ComeOn!’s logo on a soon-to-be-unveiled CPL club jersey. The deal also makes ComeOn! The presenting sponsor of the “ComeOn Match of the Week,” seen weekly on OneSoccer. ComeOn! will also figure prominently in the CPL Predictor Game, an interactive digital experience where fans predict the action.
Neither party revealed the length or specific terms of the agreement. However, with legalizing Canada online sports betting within the year, it should be less of a mystery.
An exciting, innovative step
“We are excited to have a partner in the emerging industry of sports betting,” said David Clanachan, CPL Commissioner. “We feel this is the next innovative step to help drive fan engagement and participation with our CPL matches. Offering interactive and engaging updates match to match is a great opportunity for fans to stay involved.”
Future integrations include plans for “CPL Week in Review presented by ComeOn!” with exclusive broadcast media partner, OneSoccer. The custom OneSoccer show will air Mondays and feature a wrap-up of the week’s matches and the view ahead. The show is intended to a one-stop-shop for CPL news and insights.
Additionally, ComeOn! will enjoy a full suite of broadcast assets, enhanced broadcast and stadium signage, and brand integration across CPL matches. Original content and editorial will also appear on CPL’s digital channels.
“We are proud and excited to be partnering with the Canadian Premier League. With the calibre of Canadian soccer talent coming through, we have no doubts that the league is going to continue to grow and attract fans. Not only in Canada, but around the world,” said Berkay Reyhan, Chief Commercial Officer at ComeOn Group.
“Our passion for online entertainment lends itself perfectly to creating fun and engaging experiences for the fans. From match predictors to in-stadium experiences, our goal is to improve the experience for every Canadian Premier League fan!”
Soccer in a dangerous time
In a recent announcement, CPL confirmed their 2021 season kicks off on June 26. Originally the league had hoped to begin play on May 22nd, but COVID forced a later start. The delay means the season will now stretch to mid-late October, with the championship match in early November.
Due to the pandemic, all eight clubs will meet in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to open the season. However, it is hoped clubs will return to their home markets before the season is out.
