Mere hours after the OLG announced retail sportsbooks are now allowed at Ontario casinos, Great Canadian opened books at 10 locations.

Retail Ontario sportsbooks are up and running at 10 Great Canadian Entertainment casino locations in Ontario.

And the news comes mere hours after the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. announced “select” casinos in the province would be allowed to offer in-person sports betting.

A GCE press release said the company is “proud to announce that effective today, guests can now make in-person sports bets at ten of its Ontario destinations.”

The following four destinations have “launched dedicated sportsbook lounges, called Great Canadian Sportsbooks“:

  • Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel
  • Pickering Casino Resort
  • Elements Casino Brantford
  • Shorelines Casino Belleville

And, at those locations, customers can watch live games, enjoy their favourite food and beverage options, and place bets at one of several available kiosks. Also, GCE said the lounges will have team members available at peak times who can answer any questions related to the new services and take wagers from customers.

Earlier, it was reported that Kambi Group signed a multi-year partnership to provide retail sportsbook solutions and betting kiosks to GCE.

Ontario sportsbook kiosks at 6 other casinos

Further, Great Canadian reports that six of its other casino properties in Ontario now have sportsbook kiosks. Those locations, most of which are located at racetracks, are:

  • Casino Woodbine
  • Shorelines Casino Peterborough
  • Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands
  • Elements Casino Mohawk
  • Elements Casino Grand River
  • and Elements Casino Flamboro

In the release, Great Canadian Entertainment CEO Tony Rodio said:

“We remain laser-focused on enhancing the overall experience for our guests at our gaming and entertainment destinations. The launch of sports betting at our Ontario properties is another demonstration of these efforts. These onsite additions reflect Great Canadian’s commitment to investing in our facilities and the communities where we operate, as well as creating new jobs and additional revenue that will support local municipalities in Ontario.”

Retail sportsbooks follows GCE rebranding

Also, the launch of retail sports betting and Great Canadian Sportsbooks comes on the heels of the company’s rebrand to Great Canadian Entertainment.

As part of the rebrand, GCE has also launched Great Canadian Rewards, a new player rewards program that is now offered across its 12 Ontario destinations.
