MLS betting odds: Canada teams head into season finale

Posted By Erik Buchinger on November 8, 2020 - Last Updated on May 5, 2021

The MLS regular season will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 8 with all three Canadian teams in action. The MLS is operating with a points per game format to determine standings and playoff seeding, and there is still room for movement on Sunday’s regular season finale, known as Decision Day.

Not all teams reached the 23-game revised schedule with postponements and cancellations, so changes needed to be made to determine which teams will see the greatest advantage heading into the postseason, which is slated to get started on Nov. 20.

Below is a preview of the day’s matchups involving the three Canadian teams with the Montreal Impact, Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC in addition to available items to bet on along with futures odds for the MLS Cup.

All odds are via a popular United States sportsbook.

DC United vs. Montreal Impact

The Montreal Impact will get the game against DC United underway at 3:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be held at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. This is a massive game against Montreal. Though there are a number of ways the Impact can find a way into the playoffs, a victory over DC United would automatically send them into the postseason.

Unfortunately for Montreal, DC United finds itself in a similar must-win situation to be a part of the playoffs from the Eastern Conference.

Montreal heads into this game as an underdog, according to the oddsmakers.

Moneyline (regular time)

  • DC United +123
  • Montreal Impact +195
  • Tie +260

Draw No Bet (regular time)

  • DC United -148
  • Montreal Impact +123

New York Red Bulls vs. Toronto FC

Toronto FC will get close out its regular season with a matchup with the New York Red Bulls at 3:30 p.m. ET. at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. Toronto has had a fantastic season and has an opportunity to earn the Supporters’ Shield, given to the team with the best record in the MLS. Toronto FC will likely be scoreboard watching as Philadelphia Union, which is tied with Toronto in the standings, takes on the New England Revolution.

Oddsmakers are suggesting Toronto is unlikely to leave this game with a victory.

Moneyline (regular time)

  • New York Red Bulls +123
  • Toronto FC +195
  • Tie +265

Draw No Bet (regular time)

  • New York Red Bulls -148
  • Toronto FC +123

Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. LA Galaxy

Vancouver Whitecaps FC will not be a part of the postseason, so the regular season will end with a game against the LA Galaxy at 6:30 p.m. ET at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon. Vancouver has lost three of its last four games, and the Whitecaps just hope to close out their season with a victory as they have been eliminated from playoff contention heading into Decision Day.

Those who set the odds on soccer games expect Vancouver to finish its season with another loss.

Moneyline (regular time)

  • Vancouver Whitecaps FC +195
  • LA Galaxy +114
  • Tie +290

Draw No Bet (regular time)

  • Vancouver Whitecaps FC +130
  • LA Galaxy -155
