Montreal Impact betting preview vs. New England Revolution

Posted on November 20, 2020

The Montreal Impact will get the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs started on Friday, Nov. 20 as betting underdogs when they take on the New England Revolution. The game will get started at 6:30 p.m. ET. Montreal enters as the No. 9 seed with the Revolution coming in at No. 8 in the Eastern Conference. This will be the first game of the playoffs in the MLS.

Eighteen teams advanced to the postseason in a strange MLS regular season that was impacted significantly by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Teams were only able to play a maximum of 23 games, which not every team was able to do thanks to cancellations.

Friday night will feature the two play-in games from the Eastern Conference with this game starting it off followed by the No. 7 seed Nashville SC against No. 10 Inter Miami FC afterward. The winner of Friday night’s games will advance to first round to play either the top-seeded Philadelphia Union or No. 2 seed Toronto FC. The lower seeded play-in game winner would play Philadelphia Union, while the higher seeded winner will take on Toronto FC. The first round matchups would take place on Tuesday, Nov. 24. The loser of Friday night’s matchup will be knocked out of the playoffs and get a head start on the next season.

Montreal reached the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season when it reached the Eastern Conference finals in dramatic fashion. The Impact trailed twice in their 3-2 playoff-clinching victory over D.C. United on Decision day to close out the regular season on Nov. 8.
