A group of three Ontario friends are in pretty good shape after a lucky lotto win.
The fortunate players are $21m richer after winning the Lotto 6/49 jackpot. The group has been playing together for 16 years.
Kenneth Nitsotolis (Markham), and Bill Tepelenas and Dino Martino (Toronto) won the jackpot on Sept. 22.
Yes, it’s true
As the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) announced, Nitsotolis (one of the winners) couldn’t believe the notification email.
“I opened the email, and confetti appeared on the screen,” he said. “I rubbed my eyes and thought we won $21,000, but there were too many numbers.”
Nitsotolis said he video called his friends to share the news.
The friends will be splitting the $21,185,218.10 jackpot equally, as they’ve split all winnings so far.
Lotto 6/49 is among the most popular Candian lottery draws, awarding hundreds of millions each year. Tickets are on sale until 10:30 pm (Eastern Time) on draw nights.
Ontarian players have won more than $13.5 billion in prizes since 1982.
OLG novelties
On Dec.6, Ontarians can play the three popular retail-based daily lottery games, PICK-2, PICK-3, and PICK-4, using the OLG app or website. Each of these lottery games has two draws each day.
This latest addition is rolled out exclusively on OLG.ca.
Like the retail PICK games, players still have a chance to win twice-daily jackpots ranging from $99 to $5000.
“We are obsessed about our players, and that’s why we want to provide variety to their online gaming experiences by adding our PICK games to OLG.ca,” says Dave Pridmore, OLG’s chief digital and strategy officer.
“If our customers enjoy their online gaming experience, that helps make our business stronger and our ability to give back to the people of Ontario even greater.”
And those who prefer the IRL experience can continue to play at their favourite Ontario lottery retailer.
