Betting industry leaders Benjie Cherniak and Chris Grove got themselves a piece of The Parleh.
Parley Media Group (PMG) is thrilled to announce the closure of a $1-million pre-seed financing round.
The Canadian media company’s latest addition of two industry veterans cements the PMG as a rising presence in Canada and the US.
Highly respected leaders
A native of Montreal, Cherniak will serve as an advisor to PMG. Cherniak’s familiarity with the advantages data and media content offer is certainly a fit.
For almost 12 years, he worked as a managing director of Don Best Sports, a sports betting information resource. Following the sale of Don Best to Scientific Games in 2018, Cherniak remained on board. He stayed an additional two years to assist the transition and integration into SG’s digital division.
Throughout his experience, Cherniak built tier-one operator partnerships across the US, Europe and Asia.
“The Parleh has launched at a pivotal time as the regulated Canadian market plans to open in the coming months,” said Cherniak.
“I see parallels between The Parleh’s journey to that of Don Best,” he added. “And am thrilled to support the founders in expanding the business beyond Canada.”
Grove is a sports betting industry investor, entrepreneur and strategist.
He was also Catena Media’s former acting director and a founder of LegalSportsReport.com and OnlinePokerReport.com.
Additionally, Grove worked with many of the fastest-growing startups in North America’s online gambling market.
“I met The Parleh founders soon after it launched and quickly recognized how their brand of sports betting content could potentially fill a void for sports fans,” said Grove.
“Watching as they paired that potential with impressive execution across acquisitions and organic growth initiatives convinced me to back this management team.”
Ready for the next phase
Parleh TV Toronto launched last month, becoming the city’s first dedicated multi-sport news and information TV channel.
Viewers are most engaged in Parleh’s daily picks segments, featuring fun insights on the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and EPL. They’re also logging on for significant world sporting events.
“The rise of open and regulated sports betting markets has created a once-in-a-generation disruption in the business of sports and media, “said Mark Silver, PMG’s founder.
“Having Benjie and Chris, two highly-respected leaders in the sports betting industry, invest in Parleh Media Group and also helping us on our journey is validation that we’re on the right track.”
Parleh Media Group has committed to continuing to build its business across new and existing sports verticals.
