When LeoVegas Group, subsidiary of MGM Resorts International, purchased Push Gaming Holding Limited last year, it was clear that the gaming company would be tasked with continuing its production of top casino titles.

In Canada that means games like Razor Returns, which is expected to launch exclusively via BetMGM Ontario next month.

Other Push Gaming titles will also be available in Ontario on the BetMGM online casino app, according to BetMGM.

We played a demo of Razor Returns to get a feel for this title before Ontarians at large tackle it.

The BetMGM Casino app does not offer Razor Returns in Ontario yet. The title could be available in that casino mobile application as early as January of 2025.

Razor Return: Sharks, Seaweed, and Persistent Mystery

Razor Returns Push Gaming Gameplay ScreenshotRazor Returns has sharp, colorful graphics and an undersea theme focusing on sharks, which serve as the game’s Wild symbol. Its multi-layered bonus features center around mystery symbols, represented by seaweed.

After each spin, if seaweed symbols appear on the reels, all of them will transform into symbols of the same type. If there’s a lot of seaweed, that sets up the possibility of scoring many paylines at once.

The nice thing about the seaweed is that it doesn’t go away after the spin. All symbols just slide down by one row, retriggering on the next spin until they’ve left the screen.

Seaweed can also turn into special gold shark symbols, initiating the Razor Reveals bonus. This respins the golden sharks to reveal instant win prizes. The Collector or Convertor symbols can extend this feature by merging prize symbols or converting other types of symbols to become part of the bonus.

Finally, the player can trigger Free Spins with three or more scatter symbols. Instead of lasting a fixed number of spins, the Free Spins keep going as long as there’s seaweed on the reels. Better yet, there’s a multiplier that ticks up with each spin.

At the start of Free Spins, the second and fourth columns are filled with seaweed, which drops down in the normal fashion. However, there’s a Nudge Up symbol that moves the seaweed up rather than down, leading to more spins and a higher multiplier.

Razor Returns has a variable RTP that the casino can set between a modest 94.49% and a more generous 96.55%. Regardless of the RTP, it’s a high-volatility game thanks to that persistent seaweed and the multipliers in the Free Spins round, resulting in payouts of up to 100,000 times the bet.

Ontario: an appealing market for iGaming developers

With more than a dozen online casino apps operating in Ontario, it’s no surprise that companies are targeting that market with exclusive titles and slots games. It may only be a matter of time before new titles are launched in Ontario before going out to other markets.

Online casino players in Ontario can download BetMGM Casino, Caesars Casino, Jackpot City, and many more. In Ontario you must be at least 19 years of age.
