Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton will officially open the Great Canadian Toronto Resort's entertainment facility with back-to-back concerts

Two of the most recognizable names in music are teaming up to celebrate the grand opening of Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton will officially usher in the new era of Canada’s largest gaming facility with back-to-back concerts set for Spring 2024.

Stefani, a three-time Grammy Award winner, is taking centre stage on Friday, May, 3. Her husband, five-time CMA Male Vocalist of the Year recipient Blake Shelton, will follow on Saturday, May, 4.

Great Canadian announced the news in a press release Thursday.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton to The Theatre for Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto’s Grand Opening Weekend,” said Gavin Whiteley, Chief Marketing Officer, Great Canadian Entertainment.

“This pivotal occasion marks the beginning of a new chapter in live entertainment in Toronto as we curate a diverse array of world-class performances, and entertainment experiences for our guests.”

The performances are taking place at The Theatre, a brand new 5,000-person venue attached to the Ontario casino.

Tickets go on sale as soon as Dec. 12

Great Canadian Rewards Members will receive “exclusive early access” to both shows beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. EST. For those who aren’t members, it’s not “Goodbye Time” just yet. In October, the program became the first fully digitized gaming and entertainment rewards package in Ontario, making it possible for players to sign up without visiting a retail casino location.

The presale phase kicks off two days later for Live Nation and Ticketmaster customers on Thursday, Dec. 14, also at 10 a.m. According to Great Canadian, all presales will end later that night at 10 p.m., or while quantities last.

Once both presale stages conclude, tickets will then go on sale to the general public starting Friday, Dec. 15, at 12 noon.

So, in the words of Stefani, “What You Waiting For.”

Stefani and Shelton bring wealth of accolades to Toronto

With more than 45 combined awards and 30 number-one hits between them, Stefani and Shelton have accomplished just about everything in their storied careers.

The former has sold more than 60 million units worldwide, including her four-times platinum debut solo album Love. Angel. Music. BabyReleased in 2004, the record featured smash hits, “Rich Girl” and “Hollaback Girl.”

The latter, known recently for his 23 seasons as a coach on NBC’s The Voice, has consistently ranked amongst the top streamers on the country music scene. To date, Shelton’s tunes have generated more than 10.5 billion streams worldwide.

In 2020, the pair collaborated for two No. 1 hits on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart, “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere.”

Announcement follows arrival of Tom Cochrane on NYE

Contrary to previous reports, Stefani and Shelton will not be the first performers to break in The Theatre. Instead, fans can first catch Lake Lynn, Manitoba’s finest, Tom Cochrane, rocking out on New Year’s Eve.

The eight-time Juno Award winner and member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame is set to ring in the new year on Sunday, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the New Year’s celebration first went on sale starting Nov. 9.
