Playtime Casino Hanover history

In 2001, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. opened the Slots at Hanover Raceway casino in a bid to bolster the viability of racetracks around the province. However, the initial location of the casino was just below the grandstand, which is why the environment felt a bit cluttered.

In 2017, OLG forged a deal with Gateway Casinos & Entertainment to take over control of the casino. This meant an immediate revival of the facility. In 2018, Gateway announced an $18 million renovation plan that saw the expansion of the casino floor and the addition of new slots, table games and the company’s signature restaurant — all of which make up the backbone of the current casino.
