Slots at Kawartha Downs history
Slots at Kawartha Downs Casino have been around the casino business in Ontario since the turn of the century. The location first welcomed patrons under the name OLG Slots at Kawartha Downs. In 2015, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation struck a deal with the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation to sell the business that led to the rise of Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs Casino we have now.
At first, the casino featured over 450 slot machines. However, in 2018, the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation established another Shorelines Casino in Peterborough and eventually moved the slots to that new location.
Slots at Kawartha Downs were at the brink of ruin in 2018 and faced permanent closure. Luckily, the owner reached an agreement with the Ontario Government and decided to leave around 150 slots at the premises and keep the jobs of over 60 employees that work there.
