Casino du Lac-Leamy opened on March 24, 1996, as one of the first government casino projects set up to raise funds for the community. It is currently owned by Loto-Québec and operated by its subsidiary company Société des casinos du Québec.
It underwent its first significant expansion in 2001. The $210 million investment resulted in a 349-room Hilton Hotel, a performance hall, a conference center and the 1,100-seat Théâtre du Casino.
The gambling area received a makeover in 2015, following a $50 million renovation project that included a new central bar and nightclub, a new multimedia structure and a revamped entrance hall and high limit lounge.
In 2016, the casino brought in more than $244 million, counted more than 2.5 million visitors and employed over 1,400 people.
