History of Century Casino in Calgary
The Frank Sisson’s Silver Dollar Casino almost cornered the market when it came to entertainment in Calgary when it was first built. The site had a casino, a bowling alley, a restaurant, and a lounge for live music performances, making it one of the go-to places in Calgary. Frank Sisson himself is a larger-than-life character, surviving a shooting in 1997 while running the casino. He was also named Calgary’s Sportsman of the Year at the age of 72 in 2010 for his efforts in both bowling and rodeo.
In 2010, the casino was near bankruptcy. Century Casinos made the move to purchase the site, expanding its casino holdings in Alberta. The company, which also operates casinos in Colorado, West Virginia, England, and Poland, paid $10.5 million for the casino. Century Casinos also operates casinos aboard five luxury ocean liners.
Slot machines at Century Casino Calgary
You will find more than 500 slots and gambling machines at the Century Casino Calgary. The casino ensures that its slot options are varied so that every visitor can find a game to enjoy. There is a selection of classic games — featuring traditional symbols such as bells, sevens, cherries, and bars. Alongside these games are state-of-the-art titles and branded/licensed slots featuring movies and bands. They include multimedia games with “immersive” gambling experiences that keep you entertained while you play slot games.
Slots cover denominations from pennies to dollars per line — with a high-limit area for bigger bets. You will find slot titles from the biggest live slot makers, including IGT, Aristocrat and Bally at Century Casino.
Alongside the slots are video lottery terminals. These machines are licensed by the state. They offer keno, slot-style games, and some of the best video poker games.
Table games
In total there are 16 tables where you can enjoy the most popular casino games. Blackjack is always a popular choice at any casino, and Century offers tables with different minimums. Roulette, baccarat and ultimate Texas Hold ’em also feature in the casino. Once again, there is a focus on catering to a wide range of players and bankrolls. You can play blackjack for as little as $3 per hand — or take a shot at high-stakes baccarat.

To sign up for the Winners’ Zone, register either at guest services, at the self-serve kiosks in the casino, or online. In signing up, you simply need to accept the terms and conditions and then present government-issued photo identification.

The Winners’ Zone reward program is in association with GameSense. This is a responsible gambling program. It provides education about how gambling works, odds, and randomness. It also allows for self-exclusion and where to get help for players who experience symptoms of problem gambling.
Other promotions
As well as the ongoing Winners’ Zone loyalty program, there are regular promotions, either across all the Century casinos or at the individual sites. Good examples include:
