The casino at Casino of the Rockies
Casino of the Rockies is situated in the rural Kootenay Rockies, on the bank of the St. Mary River, and inside the St. Eugene Golf Resort. It is a five-minute drive from Cranbrook and a less-than 10-minute drive from the Canadian Rockies International Airport. Its location allows it to welcome guests from Kimberley, Fernie, Calgary and even some northern US towns.
The casino floor encompasses 19,000 square feet of gambling space and houses 210 slots, five tables featuring blackjack, roulette and poker games and a lottery centre.
The casino might not be the biggest in British Columbia, but it still offers some exciting game choices. There are the province’s most popular jackpot slots, such as BC Gold, where you can win up to $200,000 with any bet, or Race to Win with equally enticing prizes.
You can also indulge in e-roulette, e-baccarat and e-blackjack, and the real live table game action at roulette, blackjack and poker tables. These poker tables host games where players bet against a dealer, such as Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Fast Action Hold’em and Three Card Poker with a six card bonus. Unfortunately, you can’t play against fellow poker players.
If you have a knack for lottery-type games, you will love the offer of keno, pull-tabs, bingo and other lottery games in a specially dedicated lottery centre.
Casino of the Rockies is a part of the Encore Rewards program prevalent in British Columbia casinos, and it offers several exclusive membership deals and discounts.
Slot machines
Considering there are only 210 slot machines, one might think the offer is lacking, and there won’t be any popular titles. However, Casino of the Rockies refutes those expectations.
There are plenty of penny, 2 cent, 5 cent, 25 cent, 50 cent and dollar slot machines with substantial payouts. The most famous slot titles include the ones from the Lock It Link series, Buffalo and 88 Fortunes. The biggest attention might be on the newest additions to the slots sections, such as Dragon Link, Scarab and the new rising star in the world of slots — Rising Fortunes Jin Ji Bao Xi.
Players can also find many branded slot machines, such as the Ellen DeGeneres series of games IGT forged in cooperation with the famous TV host and personality. Apart from IGT, other well-known providers such as Aristocrat and Scientific Games have brought their games to Casino of the Rockies.
The progressive jackpot slots, such as the BC Gold and Race to Win, are among the most sought-after games in British Columbia, and Casino of the Rockies features both of these offerings, with jackpots that can reach hundreds of thousands of dollars.
There aren’t any video lottery terminals or video poker machines in the casino at the moment.
Table games
When it comes to table games, Casino of the Rockies in Cranbrook, BC, does not have such a diverse slate. There are only five live table games on the casino floor, with different betting levels and betting options. The available games are:
Although limited in choice, players can still experience premium gambling thanks to the additional betting options within the games, such as Casino of the Rockies blackjack side bet King’s Bounty where players receive bonus cash if the first two cards total 20.
Moreover, different Texas Hold’em versions played head to head will compensate some for the lack of a dedicated poker room.
Encore Rewards
Casino of the Rockies is a proud member of the Encore Rewards program launched in British Columbia. The program has four tiers (Single Diamond, Double Diamond, Triple Diamond and Elite), and each new tier brings better rewards to loyal players than the previous one.
To earn loyalty points, players simply need to play games or even dine at casino restaurants. The accumulated points can be redeemed for prizes, such as free play cash, discounts at restaurants and hotels, special birthday gifts and invitations to exclusive events and promotions.
The membership in the program is open for all Casino of the Rockies’ visitors. Once you receive the Encore Rewards card, insert or show it every time you place a bet or pay a visit to the restaurant and bar, and you will be garnering points.
Casino of the Rockies amenities
Restaurant meals and a place to stay are also available to Casino of the Rockies guests.
St. Eugene Hotel
Since Casino of the Rockies is a part of the St. Eugene Resort, visitors can stay at the three-story St. Eugene Hotel, which is ranked as a three-diamond hotel by AAA. The hotel has 125 beautifully decorated rooms and suites, each offering a view of the golf course, the resort’s garden or the Rocky Mountains. The St. Mary River complements the resort’s tranquillizing experience, together with the Silver Water spa centre.
Twenty-five hotel rooms are located within the Spanish-colonial styled mission building erected by the Oblate Order in the 19th century. Among many amenities of the hotel — such as the free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee makers, in-room safes and mini-fridges — the complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport might be the top one.
Dining
There are a couple of dining options you can find inside the Casino of the Rockies. A brand new restaurant with an interesting concept called Kiʔsuʔk k̓ikiⱡ was established on the casino floor. Its name means “good food” in the language of the First Nation that owns the casino. It’s a full-service restaurant with a menu teeming with small plates, appetizers, sandwiches, salads and entrees. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate even larger groups. Furthermore, it frequently hosts live music shows and entertainment performances.

Casino of the Rockies history
The history of the Casino of the Rockies is tied to the entire St. Eugene Resort. The resort was established in a building created for the Oblate Order’s first mission. Then, in 1912, the government constructed the St. Eugene Mission school to educate First Nation children. That building is now the central part of the entire resort, playing a lead role since 2000 when the first St. Eugene Golf Course opened.
Shortly after, in 2002, Casino of the Rockies was launched, followed by the resort’s hotel. The casino was completely renovated in 2019 to create the nature-based concept that it incorporates today.
