Gateway Casino Woodstock

Gateway Casinos Woodstock is a casino in Woodstock, a city in Ontario located just an hour and a half west of Toronto. The casino was previously called OLG Slots at Woodstock Raceway before Gateway Casinos & Entertainment acquired most OLG properties in 2017.

Gateway Casinos Woodstock is a relatively small casino establishment that features just video slots and video poker machines. Customers can play on a total of 286 video slots and around a dozen video poker games provided by VideoPoker.com.

The casino regularly runs a promotion called Winning Wheels, while it’s also a part of Gateway’s My Club Rewards promotion program that lets big spenders enjoy benefits. Next to the casino is a half-mile harness racing track.

Being a relatively small facility, Gateway Casino Woodstock does not have many dining options, as there is only a single restaurant on the premises. The casino does not offer accommodations to its guests, although there are plenty of hotels in the city, some of which are within walking distance of the casino.

The casino at Gateway Casinos Woodstock

The casino is located right in the middle of Woodstock’s urban area and immediately next to the city’s racecourse. Woodstock is situated in the southern part of Ontario, just a few hours’ drive from Detroit and the US border, making it an ideal location for American visitors looking for legal casino gambling.

As mentioned, the Woodstock Gateway Casino is a relatively small casino compared to some of the province’s more famous options, as it features fewer than 300 video slots and several video poker machines. The casino’s biggest downside is that it lacks table games and a dedicated poker room while also not offering accommodation to its guests.

Nevertheless, players looking to enjoy quality video slots for a couple of hours a day will likely have fun here.

When it comes to promotions, the casino runs weekly Winning Wheels draws that offer cash prizes, gas cards and various physical prizes. Players can also participate in the My Club Rewards program in all Gateway Casinos & Entertainment properties in Ontario.

Slot machines

Considering that it was formerly known as OLG Slots, it is safe to assume that video slots are the centrepiece of this casino.

However, Gateway Casinos Woodstock is not one of those extensive gambling facilities where you get to choose from over 1,000 titles. Instead, the casino features a humble collection of just 286 slot games, together with a small yet respectable library of video poker machines. Nevertheless, among those 286 machines are some of the most popular games in the industry, including these:

  • Bonnie and Clyde
  • Double Diamond Free Games
  • 5 Dragons Gold
  • Golden Festival
  • Twin Fire Featuring Quick Hit and Hot Shot
  • Ultra Stack Rising Dragon

These are some of the top modern titles in the industry, featuring vivid graphics and smooth gameplay. Additionally, the casino makes sure to add new titles to the library from time to time. The games offer various reel configurations, payline structures and bonus games. The machines are equipped with comfortable seats, allowing you to have an enjoyable gambling experience for hours on end.

The available games come from various top slot machine manufacturers such as IGT, Everi Games Inc., Scientific Games, Aruze Gaming and Aristocrat Technologies. The library of games is designed to accommodate all types of players, from casual ones who prefer penny slots to high-rollers who spend $25 or more per pull.

Poker enthusiasts won’t find any tables at the casino, but they will be able to enjoy high-quality video poker games provided by VideoPoker.com. The most popular video poker games include Bonus Poker Deluxe, Double Double Bonus Poker and Deuces Wild, all of which come in triple-play, five-play and ten-play varieties.

My Club Rewards

My Club Rewards is a rewards program featured in multiple Ontario casinos operated by Gateway Casinos & Entertainment. Members of this program can earn tier points that let them progress to a higher membership level. You can later redeem reward points for free play at select video slot games.

The points are earned by playing the games, at the rate of one point earned for every $10 you wager on video slots and for every $20 you wager on video poker. Players can also earn a point for every $40 they wager on electronic table games if the casino offers such games.

The best thing about My Club Rewards is that your points count in all of the participating casinos. For example, you can redeem the points you earn at Gateway Casinos Woodstock at Gateway-run casinos in London, Sault Ste. Marie, Hanover, Thunder Bay and other locations.

Of course, free play is not the only thing you can get by participating in the program. Members are also eligible for restaurant discounts, special tournament entries, exclusive birthday offers, giveaways, invites to events and concert offers. Higher tiers can also expect things like main entrance valet, hotel valet, priority hotel check-in and priority seating at the restaurant. There are five tier levels in My Club Rewards:

  • Rewards (0-999 points)
  • Silver (1,000-4,999 points)
  • Gold (5,000-24,999 points)
  • Elite (25,000+ points)
  • Ultra (invite only)

The membership levels are calculated according to tier points accumulated over a year, from April 1 to March 31.

Being a relatively small casino, Gateway Woodstock does not have a hotel on-premises. So, if you plan on staying for more than a day, you will have to find accommodation in the city. Luckily, there are a few hotels in Woodstock that might suit your needs.

The most notable of these are Days Inn by Wyndham, Holiday Inn Express & Suites and Best Western Plus Inn & Suites, all of which are located just off MacDonald Cartier Freeway and are minutes away from the casino.

However, the Gateway Express is an ideal venue for all of your dining needs, featuring a versatile menu of sandwiches, burgers and daily specials such as roast beef, fried chicken, honey garlic stir fry and wings.

There’s also a substantial selection of drinks, including premium shots, bottled beer, house wine and cocktails.

Gateway Casinos Woodstock history

The Woodstock Raceway opened in 1951. Over the next few decades, it went through several renovations and increased its number of racing nights to 31 in 1975 while also having an average nightly attendance of over 1,300.

In 1999, the racetrack was acquired by Windsor Raceway, and the same year saw the addition of Slots Casino run by the Ontario Lottery Corp. In May of 2017, the casino was purchased by Gateway Casinos & Entertainment along with several other facilities in Ontario and changed its name from OLG Slots at Woodstock Raceway to Gateway Casinos Woodstock.

After the Gateway acquisition, the casino was equipped with new gambling machines and the restaurant was renovated. Today, Gateway Casinos Woodstock features nearly 300 video slots and video poker machines and is one of the favourite locations for local Ontarians, as well as US tourists living near the border.
