Getting to Know Charlon Muscat

Charlon Muscat alt headshotSince 2019, Charlon has worked across different corners of iGaming, starting out on the sports betting desk before making the move into content. Along the way, Canada became a particular area of focus, even more so now with how quickly the market is growing.

An early role at Paddy Power in Malta gave him a close-up view of how a major operator works across both casino and sportsbook, which helped shape the perspective behind his reviews and industry coverage. His work has appeared on several established platforms, and in December 2025, he reached his 1,000th published contribution.

Q&A with Charlon Muscat

I’m gonna name two — the ability to play games in demo mode and a site-wide chat function.

“The only way to win is by playing high-RTP games.”

I get where that’s coming from, but unless you’re planning to play millions of rounds, pay less attention to RTP and more to volatility and the stake sizes on offer. That’s what’s going to affect your session most.

I hate calling anything a sure thing because we all know that doesn’t really exist in gambling. But yeah, there’ve definitely been times when I felt so sure about something, and it still blew up in my face. That usually happens with QPR, if I’m honest, probably because my head starts mixing up what I want to happen with what’s actually likely to happen. I only throw about 5% of my budget at stuff like that, though, so it is what it is.

Don’t gamble. Seriously, if you’re putting money in because you expect to win, you probably shouldn’t be playing at all. It’s meant to be fun, that’s the whole point. You’re paying for the experience, the same way you do at the movies or when you go watch a soccer match, not because you expect to walk away with something back.

If I had to go with one, it’s online slots all day. You’ve got endless variety, and fresh games keep coming out every week. Blackjack and poker are nice, yeah, but I’d rather play those in a more social setting.
