Parq Vancouver Casino history

Parq Vancouver Casino first opened its doors to the public on Sept. 29, 2017. From then on, the hotel and casino scene in Vancouver has never been the same. The moment Parq Vancouver opened, the Edgewater Casino across the street closed down permanently. The Parq Vancouver’s casino license was, in fact, transferred from the Edgewater Casino, which was owned by Paragon Gaming of Las Vegas. Paragon Gaming was the original partner of Dundee Corp. in the ownership of Parq Vancouver, but it sold its stake to PBC in 2019.

Over the years, there have been some problems with the casino’s funding that raised doubts about it being able to finance the loans. However, those days seem to be behind it, as a new equity partner emerged and injected the money necessary to refinance debts and keep the business afloat. The new partner is said to have gained a 34.9% stake in Parq Vancouver.

The Canada-based group wishes to remain private, but speculation has it that it is the Westmont Hospitality Group, the owner of 500 hotels worldwide.
