The casino is Caribbean-themed, and it features more than 23,000 square feet of gambling space. It was named Lake City Casino for many years before it was rebranded to Playtime Casino in 2018.

Playtime Casino Kelowna, BC, can entertain all types of players. Those who prefer video slots can enjoy over 450 modern slot machines with various denominations and jackpot sizes. There are also 16 tables where you can play various table games, including blackjack, baccarat, poker and both electronic and live roulette. A dedicated poker room is open every day from 4:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. and features four tables for No Limit Texas Hold’em cash games, but unfortunately, no tournaments.

While there is no sportsbook or off-track racebook offered by the casino, you can still enjoy watching popular sporting events at one of the casino’s bars. The dining options are the Match Eatery & Public House and The Buffet, offering a wide assortment of foods and beverages.

Since Gateway runs Playtime Casino, all players are free to opt into Encore Rewards to become eligible for various prizes and benefits.

Slot machines

After recently adding around 70 new popular video slot titles, the slot machines collection at Kelowna’s Playtime Casino has increased to over 450. The slots’ denominations range from 1 cent to $1, and almost all games have adjustable betting sizes. The games include both classic reel titles and the newest video slots with impressive visual effects and engaging bonus games.

Some of the most popular titles you can find in the casino include Lock It Link, Powerbucks, Fortune 88, Bonus Times, Wheel of Fortune, Phone Tag, Rich Girl, Twin Win and Wicked Winnings. Apart from slots, the casino features several variations of video poker and video keno on machines powered by Game King.

The most attractive games at the casino are, of course, the progressives. BC Gold is the most prominent progressive game, and you can find it in many casinos across the province. The guaranteed minimum win in BC Gold Progressive is $100,000, and it randomly rewards a lucky winner before the meter reaches $200,000. Copper, nickel and silver jackpots have rewards of up to $25, $50 and $1,500, respectively.

Race to Win is another series of progressive 1 cent slots in which the random winner is guaranteed a $10,000 reward. The Casino Cash Progressive game includes 14 penny slots in which the smaller jackpot is worth between $150 and $250, while the bigger one pays out before it reaches $1,500.

Table games

Of course, Playtime Casino Kelowna is not all about video slots. There is also something for the fans of classic casino games like blackjack, baccarat, poker and roulette. It also boasts a touchscreen-controlled electronic roulette table.

The 16 tables at the Playtime Casino Kelowna feature the following games:

  • EZ Baccarat
  • Blackjack (including the King’s Bounty side bet)
  • Free Bet Blackjack

The tables are open from 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 12:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Closing times are not disclosed.

Encore Rewards

Encore Rewards is a program offered in numerous casinos across BC. Signing up for Encore Rewards is free, and you will never have to pay to renew your membership. The program includes four levels: Diamond, Double Diamond, Triple Diamond and Elite. You reach a new level once you collect enough points, and each level comes with notable benefits, like personalized offers, free contest entries, birthday gifts, restaurant discounts and more.

You earn points by playing games or by eating at one of the casino’s restaurants. The points you earn can be redeemed for free play on all video slots and table games, with 2,000 points being worth $10 in free play.

Playtime Casino Kelowna history

In 2002, Gateway Casinos purchased four Lake City casinos, including the one in Kelowna. This was a pivotal year for Gateway and the casino itself, which started to attract more customers and improve its service and range of games.

In early 2018, the casino changed its name to Playtime Casino Kelowna and went through a complete makeover that cost around $3.6 million. The renovation included the relocation of the poker room and the addition of two restaurants. In March of 2020, the casino was temporarily closed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
