The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) updated its official iGaming registrants list, and the latest version includes nearly 100 approved companies across a range of categories.
The list includes Alberta sportsbooks, online casinos, game developers, technology providers, and testing firms. It offers one of the clearest looks yet at the companies preparing for Alberta’s competitive online gambling market.
bet365 Casino may be the headline addition, but the latest update also includes companies spanning nearly every corner of the online gambling industry.
Bet365 Joins the Field
In the Ontario market, bet365 is already a familiar name. The company has now taken another step toward entering Alberta’s regulated market.
The global operator appears on the registrants’ list through two entities, i.e., Hillside (International Gaming) ENC and Hillside (International Sports) ENC. These cover its iGaming and sports wagering operations.
Bet365’s arrival adds another major international operator to a market that is already attracting many of the industry’s biggest brands.
A Mix of National and Local Operators
An operator category in Alberta now includes 35 registrants.
Several of the biggest names in North American online gambling are already on the list, including BetMGM Casino, FanDuel Casino, DraftKings Casino, and BetRivers Casino.
But the list of iGaming registrants is not made up entirely of national and international brands.
- Play Alberta remains part of the mix.
- River Cree iGaming (backed by the Enoch Cree Nation) is included.
- Pure Casino Entertainment is also registered. Indigenous Gaming Partners Inc. is Pure Casino Entertainment’s general partner.
- Edmonton-based Goldrush Alberta is also registered. It operates under the Betnova brand.
Together, these companies give Alberta a stronger local presence. This is more substantial than expected.
The Companies Behind the Games
Operators may grab the headlines, but they are only one piece of Alberta’s future market.
The critical gaming systems provider category now includes 39 registrants. These feature some of the biggest studios in online gaming, including Evolution Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Play’n GO, Playtech, Blueprint Gaming, Push Gaming, and Hacksaw Gaming. They supply everything from live dealer games to slots and instant-win games.
Companies such as IGT Canada Solutions and Konami Gaming also appear on the list. They add further depth to the pool of approved suppliers.
For Alberta players, that could translate into a broad selection of iGaming content following the operator launch.
Platform Providers Continue to Join the List
Every operator relies on a network of technology providers. Players rarely see these providers.
Alberta’s registrants list now includes 11 platform providers, among them EveryMatrix, Pariplay, GiG through its iGaming Cloud platform, Strive Gaming and NeoPollard Interactive. These companies provide the systems to support player accounts, payments, compliance, and game integration.
The goods and services supplier category includes 14 registrants. They range from GLI and BMM testing labs to integrity-focused organizations such as eCOGRA and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA). Payments provider Skrill and sports data company Genius Sports are also on the list.
Thus, the roster now includes everything from testing labs to integrity monitoring firms.
The iGaming Registrants List is Still Growing
The latest update adds several notable names to the roster. That said, Alberta’s operator list is not necessarily complete.
A handful of recognizable brands have yet to appear on the registrants’ list, including Fanatics Sportsbook and Hard Rock Bet. Additional operators could still be approved before Alberta’s competitive market officially launches.
Even so, Alberta’s future online gambling market is becoming easier to picture, as nearly 100 companies now appear across the various registration categories.
Bet365 joins an operator roster that includes FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, BetRivers, Betway, and several Alberta-based brands. Dozens of gaming suppliers, platform providers, and service companies have also secured registrations.
