Online Gambling in the Rest of Canada

Right now, only two Canadian provinces have opened a regulated, competitive online gambling market to private operators: Ontario (through iGaming Ontario, live since April 2022) and Alberta (opened to private operators on July 13, 2026). PlayCanada focuses on these two regulated markets, where licensed operators are held to provincial standards for player protection, responsible gambling, and advertising.

In every other province and territory, there is no regulated private online casino or sportsbook market. Legal online play is offered only through the government-run provincial operator. We don’t rank or promote private operators in provinces where they aren’t licensed — instead, here’s where legal, regulated play is available across the rest of Canada:

Where legal online gambling stands in the rest of Canada

  • British Columbia, Manitoba & Saskatchewan — the only legal online option is PlayNow.com, operated by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (and its provincial partners).
  • Québec — legal online gambling is offered solely through Loto-Québec’s Espacejeux (lotoquebec.com).
  • New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island & Newfoundland and Labrador — online play is offered through the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (alc.ca), the regional operator for the four Atlantic provinces.
  • Yukon, Northwest Territories & Nunavut — there is no dedicated provincial online gambling platform.

Private, offshore or “grey-market” sites that accept players in these provinces operate outside any Canadian provincial licence and fall outside the consumer protections that apply in Ontario and Alberta. We don’t recommend them.
